Oh I Say เป็นเพลงพระราชนิพนธ์อันดับที่ 21 ทรงพระราชนิพนธ์ใน พ.ศ. 2498 ทรงพระกรุณาโปรดเกล้าฯ ให้ หม่อมราชวงศ์ เสนีย์ ปราโมช ประพันธ์คำร้องภาษาอังกฤษ แล้วพระราชทานให้นำออกบรรเลงในงานของสมาคมนักเรียนเก่าสหรัฐอเมริกาในพระบรมราชูปถัมภ์ ณ สโมสรสวนสราญรมย์ เมื่อวันเสาร์ที่ 5 กุมภาพันธ์ พ.ศ. 2498 เพลงพระราชนิพนธ์นี้ไม่มีคำร้องภาษาไทย

บทเพลง : Near Dawn - ใกล้รุ่ง
เป็นเพลงพระราชนิพนธ์ลำดับที่ 4 ทรงพระราชนิพนธ์ใน พ.ศ. 2489 ขณะทรงเป็นสมเด็จพระอนุชาธิราช ทรงพระกรุณาโปรดเกล้าฯ ให้ศาสตราจารย์ ดร.ประเสริฐ ณ นคร ประพันธ์คำร้องภาษาไทย ส่วนคำร้องภาษาอังกฤษ ทรงพระกรุณาโปรดเกล้าฯ ให้ท่านผู้หญิงนพคุณ ทองใหญ่ ณ อยุธยา ประพันธ์ พระราชทานให้วงดนตรีสุนทราภรณ์ นำออกบรรเลงครั้งแรก ทางสถานีวิทยุกระจายเสียงกรมโฆษณาการ (ปัจจุบันคือกรมประชาสัมพันธ์) เมื่อเดือนกรกฎาคม พ.ศ. 2489

บทเพลง : Hungry Men's blues - ชะตาชีวิต
เป็นเพลงพระราชนิพนธ์ลำดับที่ ๕ ทรงพระราชนิพนธ์หลังจากเสด็จขึ้นครองราชย์สมบัติ และเสด็จพระราชดำเนินไปทรงศึกษาต่อที่ประเทศสวิตเซอร์แลนด์ ทรงพระกรุณาโปรดเกล้าฯ ให้พระเจ้าวรวงศ์เธอ พระองค์เจ้าจักรพันธ์เพ็ญศิริ ทรงพระนิพนธ์คำร้องภาษาอังกฤษ
ในวันเฉลิมพระชนมพรรษาพระบาทสมเด็จพระปรมินทรมหาภูมิพลอดุลยเดชครบ ๒๐ พรรษา ในพ.ศ. ๒๔๙๐ ข้าราชการ นักเรียนและคนไทยในสวิตเซอร์แลนด์ ร่วมกันจัดงานเฉลิมฉลองติดต่อกันหลายวัน ในวันเสาร์ที่ ๖ ธันวาคม พ.ศ. ๒๔๙๐ มาตั้งวงเล่นดนตรีที่พระตำหนักวิลลาวัฒนา พระบาทสมเด็จพระปรมินทรมหาภูมิพลอดุลยเดชทรงดนตรีด้วย
ในงานมีการทายชื่อเพลงพระราชนิพนธ์ใหม่ H.M.Blues ว่า H.M. แปลว่าอะไร ผู้ที่จะทาย ต้องซื้อกระดาษสำหรับเขียนคำทายใบละครึ่งฟรังซ์ จุดประสงค์เพื่อระดมทุนสำหรับช่วยเหลือคนจน โดยวงดนตรีบรรเลงเพลงให้ผู้ร่วมงานเต้นรำโดยไม่หยุดพัก ระหว่างเลี้ยงอาหารว่างตอนดึก ทรงพระกรุณาโปรดเกล้าฯ ให้พระเจ้าวรวงศ์เธอ พระองค์เจ้าจักรพันธ์เพ็ญศิริ ร้องเพลงพระราชนิพนธ์เพลงใหม่ H.M. Blues
เนื้อเพลงมีใจความว่า "คนอื่น ๆ ที่ไม่ได้เล่นดนตรี ต่างก็อิ่มหนำสำราญกัน แต่พวกเราที่กำลังเล่นดนตรีต่างก็หิวโหย และไม่มีแรงจะเล่นต่อไปอีกแล้ว" ในงานไม่มีผู้ใดทายชื่อถูกเลยสักคนเดียว เพราะทุกคนต่างคิดว่า H.M. Blues ย่อมาจาก His Majesty 's Blues ซึ่งแปลว่าเพลงแนวบลูส์ของพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว แต่แท้ที่จริงแล้ว H.M.Blues ย่อมาจาก Hungry Men's Blues แปลว่าเพลงบลูส์ของผู้ที่หิวโหย

คำร้องภาษาไทย ทรงพระกรุณาโปรดเกล้าฯ ให้ศาสตราจารย์ ดร.ประเสริฐ ณ นคร เป็นผู้ประพันธ์ แต่เนื่องจากในเวลานั้นคำร้องภาษาอังกฤษ ไม่ได้พระราชทานลงมา และเพราะต้นฉบับอยู่ที่สวิตเซอร์แลนด์ ดร.ประเสริฐ จึงใส่คำร้องภาษาไทย ที่มีความหมายออกมาคนละแบบ
คำร้องภาษาฝรั่งเศส ทรงพระราชทานพระบรมราชานุญาต ให้น.ส.เปรมิกา สุจริตกุล ถ่ายทอดความหมายจากคำร้องภาษาไทยเป็นภาษาฝรั่งเศส เมื่อปีพ.ศ. ๒๕๕๒ โดยใช้ชื่อเพลงว่า Pauvre Destin ชะตาชีวิต
